USA Weightlifting Coach Endorses AdvoCare

Burgener – Family of Champions

You could say Casey Burgener is a chip off the old block – except if you called Mike Burgener an “old block” you might regret it. You see, Mike is a senior international coach with USA Weightlifting. He was named National High School Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year Burgenertwice – in 2003 and 2005.

Mike and his son, Casey share a passion for weightlifting. Mike is the consummate coach and Casey, an accomplished competitor. Mike taught Casey everything he knows – and it shows.

Casey recently won the weightlifting silver medal for Team USA (in the 105+kg weight class) a the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. “It was an honor to win a medal for our country,” Casey says. “It’s not very often I get the opportunity to represent the United States in such a prestigious event. So coming out with a medal made it almost surreal.”

However, Mike is most proud of Casey’s 11th place finish at the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships in Chang Mai, Thailand. “Casey scored more points for Team USA than any other competitor,” Mike says. “Watching Casey develop into a world-class weightlifter has been my career highlight.”

Mike has been a weightlifting coach since 1979, so it’s no surprise that Casey started lifting weights at age 12. “When I first began lifting, I was still competing in other sports, but by age 15 I started competing solely in weightlifting,” Casey says. “Technique is the most important element in weightlifting. The lifts are some of the most complicated movements in all sports.”

Both Mike and Casey been using AdvoCare products for four years now, and they are very happy with the results. Mike uses a variety of AdvoCare products for specific needs. “I use Spark to bring me through the down part of my day and before a workout,” Mike says. “I use Rehydrate to restore nutrients to the body lost through sweat. Nighttime Recovery allows my body to recover without too much sleep. I also use Joint Promotion to help my aging knees and shoulders. Periodically, I use Catalyst™, Prostate Support and OmegaPlex®.”

Additionally, Mike recommends AdvoCare products to his weight-lifting clients. “Most of my athletes use AdvoCare Spark®, Rehydrate, Muscle Gain™, AdvoCare Muscle Fuel and Post-Workout Recovery,” he says. “Weightlifters need supplements that aid in their recovery after hard workouts.”

Casey says since using AdvoCare products, he’s noticed a major difference in his energy level during workouts. “I’m able to lift without wearing down for longer periods of time,” he says. “In our sport, that’s incredibly important – not only for performance, but for the better quality training.”

Casey says his favorite AdvoCare products are Muscle Fuel, Post-Workout Recovery, OmegaPlex®, CorePlex® and Spark.

Why do Mike and Casey choose to use AdvoCare products? “The products are safe and designed by the scientific and medical community, and – most importantly – they work” Mike says. Casey echos his father’s words. “The simple answer is they work,” he says. “I’ve had a lot of success using AdvoCare Products.

AdvoCare Rehydrate Over Gatorade

Rehydrate Electrolyte Replacement Drink

Check out what Jimmy Johnsons pit crew is drinking!

Sustain Optimal Hydration

Electrolyte Replacement Drink
KEY BENEFITS:
  • Helps the body stay hydrated during physical activity
  • Provides a full spectrum of crucial electrolytes for improved electrolyte balance
  • Includes amino acids to help feed your muscles
  • Fuels your body with carbohydrates for energy production and sustained muscle endurance
  • Contains antioxidants to fight free radicals commonly produced during exercise
  • Helps prevent cramping during and after exercise
IS THIS YOU?
  • Someone who wants to sustain hydration and energy during physical activity
  • Someone who wants a superior sports drink
  • Someone who wants to enhance your exercise regimen
  • Someone who wants a healthy drink for everyday use
THE ISSUE:
Water is the basis for all body fluids and is involved in numerous vital metabolic processes. When we lose fluid, we also lose minerals such as calcium, potassium and sodium, which are electrolytes that help regulate the body’s fluid balance and metabolic processes. Just a two-to-five percent decrease in body fluid can reduce blood volume, decreasing oxygen delivery to muscles and organs when you need it most. Prolonged exercise, outdoor activities at elevated temperature or humidity, and occasional gastric imbalances are associated with loss of body fluid and dehydration. Decreased carbohydrate availability may also occur, resulting in low muscle glycogen levels.
One hour of moderate-intensity exercise at a temperature of 70o Fahrenheit results in an average loss of 27 ounces of sweat. Even low-intensity exercise or activity can cause significant fluid loss. At this point, performance declines due to increased reaction time, and decreased concentration and judgment. Of even more concern is the fact that the individual may be completely unaware of these occurrences until it’s too late.
THE SOLUTION:
Rehydrate Electrolyte Replacement Drink provides the necessary nutrients to maintain proper metabolism and delay the onset of fatigue. It hydrates your body by re-establishing your electrolyte balance with its superior formulation. Rehydrate Drink has a low glycemic index that produces a more gradual insulin response and is isotonic, thus providing rapid gastric emptying and rapid rehydration. Furthermore, this drink helps support the body’s energy cycle and provides carbohydrate fuel necessary for energy production.
Unlike other sports drinks, Rehydrate Electrolyte Replacement Drink includes antioxidants, carbohydrates, electrolytes and other nutrients that effectively promote optimal hydration and recovery. Rehydrate Drink has a 1:1 ratio of sodium and potassium, two of the most vital electrolytes that are lost when we sweat. Rehydrate Drink helps prevent cramping by providing calcium, magnesium and L-glutamine to support the contraction and relaxation phases of the muscles.
This amazing sports drink also helps sustain carbohydrate energy by including chromium in its unique formulation, strengthening endurance at any activity level. Furthermore, the antioxidants in Rehydrate Drink help fight the effects of free radicals, and the amino acids support blood flow throughout the cardiovascular system. Rehydrate Electrolyte Replacement Drink provides a complete spectrum of ingredients for hydration that far exceeds other leading sports drinks, making it a superior choice for the serious or casual athlete.
Directions For Use:
For ages 4 and older.
To prepare, shake or stir contents of one pouch or scoop into 8 fluid ounces of water.
Drink liberally before, during and after physical activity.
Key Ingredients:
L-arginine, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chromium, L-glutamine, thiamine (B-1)

8 ounces fat free cream cheese ( can use tofutti cream cheese instead)
8 ounces 1/3 less fat cream cheese
3/4 cup splenda
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 T low fat sour cream (greek yogurt works as well)
1/4 t. salt

ADVOCARE POWER MUFFINS

2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour (to make them gluten free, I used Dry Oats – quick oats cereal – and ground them up into a flour/powder in the food processor or magic bullet)
2 AdvoCare Vanilla Meal Replacement Shake Pouches (You could also use Vanilla Muscle Gain Powder to increase the protein content, lower the carbohydrate content. Use 2 pouches of muscle gain OR 4 – 6 scoops.)
1 1⁄2 Cups Flaxseed Meal (I use Bob's Red Mill brand)
1⁄2 Cup Oat Bran
6 AdvoCare Peaches and Cream Fiber Drink Pouches
2 Cups Splenda Brand Sweetener
4 tsp. Baking Soda
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
4 tsp. Cinnamon
3 Cups Shredded Organic Carrots (food processor or magic bullet)
5 Unpeeled Organic Apples, grated
1 Cup Organic Raisins
2 Cups Coursely Chopped Pecans, toasted (on a cookie sheet in preheated 350 degree oven for 10 minutes, cool before adding to the recipe)
1 1⁄2 Cups 1% Milk (I use vanilla soy milk)
4 Eggs, beaten
2 tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract

Mix together all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Stir in carrots, apples, raisins, and pecans. In a separate bowl, combine milk, beaten eggs, and vanilla. Pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients. Stir until moistened. Fill muffin cups 3⁄4 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 – 20 minutes. Makes approximately 3 1⁄2 dozen.

(I also poured some batter into a bread pan and made a bread loaf. Takes a little longer to bake. Poke a dry toothpick in the center and remove the bread when the toothpick comes out dry – without batter stuck to it.)

For 42 muffins, approximate nutritional content per muffin (using oats & Vanilla Meal Replacement Shake)
110 calories, 6 g fat, 13 g carbohydrate, 4 gprotein, 4.5 g fiber

MANDARIN ORANGE SPARK COOKIES

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Place 3⁄4 oats in a magic bullet blender or food processor and grind into oat flour. Pour flour into a bowl. Add Muscle Gain, Splenda, salt, cinnamon, Mandarin Orange Spark (use more if you want a stronger flavor) and stir together. Add 1/2c.
